One of the highlights of each week in St. John of God is drama class with Ms. McDermott, our visiting drama teacher. Ms. McDermott does a wonderful job, developing all aspect of drama with the students e.g. speech and language, acting and collaborative drama activities. These excellent classes provide the children with the opportunity to flourish in a dramatic setting and also allows them to take this confidence with them back to the classroom and beyond.
From time to time, throughout the school year, various classes attend dramatic performances and theatre groups are invited in to school, to perform for the students.
Our annual School Concert is where the wonderful talents of our girls are showcased. The concerts again took place during the daytime and were packed full of stunning performances from every year group. The support from the parents was especially noticeable as our hall was packed of supportive family members every day.
The Little Red Kettle Theatre Company recently paid their annual visit to our school with all classes, from juniors up to third class, getting to see and participate in their production of ‘A Weird ol’ World’ in our school hall. The girls thoroughly enjoyed the performance this year and especially enjoyed seeing their friends take part.
Here they are in action:
