Mrs. Cody’s Retirement

On the 6th of November 2015 Mrs. Cody retired from St. John of God Girls National School. She had worked here for twenty six years. During this time she taught at all class levels. In recent years she worked as a learning support teacher and was vice principal of our school. On Thursday the 5th of November, we held a celebratory mass for Mrs. Cody. The mass took place in the school hall. Father Dan helped us to celebrate it. Past teachers and pupils were there along with Mrs. Cody’s family. The 5th and 6th classes sang together as a choir. We sang many wonderful hymns. Different girls from different classes brought up gifts and said prayers during the mass. Mrs. Cody’s girls wrote a special piece for her which Ms. Campion read out. The staff sang a song for Mrs. Cody. At the end of the mass, the two youngest and the two oldest girls in the school presented Mrs. Cody with a bouquet of flowers and a book filled with pages designed by every pupil in the school. The book was full of poems, letters and pictures. Mrs. Cody made a speech. Then we all sang a song that was especially written for Mrs. Cody. It was a beautiful mass, and I think she really enjoyed it. Mrs. Cody was a lovely teacher and we will all really miss her. We wish her the best in her retirement.
