First Class

We all really enjoyed taking part in Healthy Eating month for the month of May. We were delighted with our special treat of a dance lesson from Dancewise and danced like superstars!!

We had great fun having our healthy picnic outside and tasted some fruits that some of us had never tried before.

We designed colourful fruit baskets using paper weaving.

Look at our projects on The Titanic.  We learned all about this famous ship and what happened to it on its maiden voyage in 1912.

Have you ever heard of the Dutch artist Piet Mondrian? He used lots of lines in his paintings. His favourite colours to use were the three primary colours and black, white and grey. We created our own versions of his painting called ‘Broadway Boogie Woogie!’

Welcome to our First Class blog. First Class is an exciting place to be. We have all been working very hard this year, and have been having some fun along the way also!

We love to decorate the walls of our classroom and corridor.  Our Visual Art classes can get very messy sometimes but we love all cutting and sticking, collaging and painting, mixing and constructing, drawing and printing (not all at the same time of course!).

Here are some of our most recent creations!

We worked together to create a group art display of bluebells, tulips, daffodils, crocus and other spring flowers for display in the corridor. Spring has truly sprung!!

We are learning the recorder this year. Ms Kenny comes to our class every week and we are really looking forward to the performance we will be putting on at the end of the year for our families and friends.

P. E time is one of our favourite times of the week. We are learning dance at the moment and are really enjoying it. We are looking forward to learning some Céilí dances in preparation for Seachtain na Gaeilge and our Céilí Mór sa halla!!

Operation Transformation has really taken off in our school and in our class this year. We are all enjoying the whole school workouts on the yard. We are all really trying to eat more healthily and drink more water (in re-usable bottles!). It’s great to see the healthy lunches coming into school.

The workouts and relaxation activities of Go-Noodle are still a firm favourite in our class. We always feel refreshed and ready to work afterwards.

As our song goes “Brigid brings the spring.”  We enjoyed learning all about one of Ireland’s favourite saints and we wrote about St Brigid’s life and the kind deeds that she did.
